New Age Verification Process 2026

Effective from 29 April 2026

We’re introducing a new age verification process to meet regulatory requirements and ensure that only customers aged 18 or over can place orders from VAPO.

What’s changing?

To continue shopping with us, you’ll need to complete a quick age verification form as part of your order process.

How it works

It’s a simple 3-step process:

  1. Provide a valid form of ID:
    • NZ Driver Licence
    • NZ Passport
    • NZ Birth Certificate
  2. A quick check will confirm you’re over 18
  3. Once verified, you’re good to go for future purchases.

What to expect

  • Guest checkout: You’ll be asked to complete the age verification process before each order
  • Logged-in customers: You’ll only need to verify once.

How to verify your ID:

There are two ways to verify your ID:

1. Via your account:

  • Click 'Verify my age'. 


2. At checkout:

  • Add items to your cart.
  • Click 'Verify & checkout':

  • You'll be taken to our secure form to complete your verification. Note, you will be asked to review your details again before submitting:

  • Once verified, your account will remain verified. Please remember to log in before each order to avoid delays. 
  • Note: If you wish to check out as a guest, you may complete your purchase without signing in or creating an account, but your verification will be remembered for that session only.

The process is secure and designed to be as fast and seamless as possible.

Privacy & your information

As part of this process, your data may be shared with our third-party verification partner who will confirm your age. This information is used solely for verification purposes and to meet legal obligations.

We handle all data in line with our privacy and security standards and only retain information for as long as necessary.

We’ve also updated our Privacy Policy in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. This outlines what information we collect, how it’s used, and when it may be shared. The updated policy comes into effect from 29 April 2026.
